Dear Friend,
We are pleased to extend an invitation to the 2025 Lexington-Fayette NAACP Flora D. Mitchell Freedom Fund Banquet. This significant event will take place on September 20, 2025, at the Hilton Lexington Downtown, located at 369 West Vine Street, Lexington, Kentucky. Doors will open at 5:30 PM, with the program commencing promptly at 6:30 PM. This year's theme, “Inspiring Change in a Time of Exclusion,” serves as a call to action for us to unite as a community, reinforcing our commitment to a future that champions equity and justice for all.
We are honored to welcome the Honorable Derrick Johnson, the 19th President and CEO of the NAACP, as our keynote speaker. Mr. Johnson has held several significant leadership roles, including Vice Chairman of the National Board of Directors and President of the Mississippi State Conference. His leadership has been pivotal in rejuvenating and transforming the NAACP. Additionally, he is the founder of One Voice Inc., a nonprofit organization aimed at enhancing the quality of life for African Americans through civic engagement.
We are also privileged to honor Justice Pamela R. Goodwine, the first African American woman elected to the Kentucky Supreme Court. Justice Goodwine has broken numerous barriers, being the first woman in Lexington to serve as a district judge and the first to be appointed as a circuit judge. In 2018, she became the first African American woman to serve on the Kentucky Court of Appeals. Her distinguished career marks her as a trailblazer, as she is the first woman and only the fifth individual in history to serve at every level of the judiciary in Kentucky.
The NAACP's mission is to ensure equal rights in political, educational, social, and economic areas while eliminating race-based discrimination. Founded in 1909, with the Lexington-Fayette Branch formed March 4, 2019, it is the oldest and largest nonpartisan civil rights organization in the U.S., with over 2,200 units, including adult branches, youth councils, college chapters, and prison branches. Our dedicated members advocate tirelessly for civil rights in their communities, promoting social justice for all Americans.
As a Corporate Sponsor for the Lexington-Fayette Branch’s 2025 Flora D. Mitchell Freedom Fund Banquet, your organization has a valuable opportunity to make a meaningful impact in our community. The benefits of corporate sponsorship include:
-
Increasing your visibility and effectively sharing your mission with others.
