2026 NAACP Lexington-Fayette County Branch Scholarship Application
The mission of the NAACP Lexington-Fayette County Branch is to achieve equity, political rights, and social inclusion by advancing policies and practices that expand human and civil rights, eliminate discrimination, and accelerate the well-being, education, and economic security of Black, Indigenous, and all Bodies of Culture.
In support of this mission, NAACP Lexington-Fayette County Branch 3097 will award four non-renewable scholarships this academic year in the amount of $ 500 each to students who exemplify the mission and demonstrate potential to advance this work further throughout their adult lives.

The Charity Hocker Scholarship
The four $500 non-renewable scholarships for 2026 will be awarded to:

Two scholarships for students planning on attending an accredited four-year
college or university. -
One scholarship for students planning on attending an accredited two-year
technical, trade, or community college. -
The Charity Hocker Scholarship is for an active NAACP Lexington-Fayette County Youth Council Member who is planning to attend either an accredited 2-year or 4-year institution.
Requirements to apply are:

Lexington/Fayette County resident.

Acceptance at an accredited post-secondary school (accredited four-year college or university or two-year technical, trade, or community college) for Fall 2026.

Minimum GPA of 2.5.

Commitment and potential leadership capabilities in areas related to the Lexington NAACP’s mission statement.
Completed applications, including 1) the cover form, 2) your essay response, 3) an official transcript sent by your current school, 4) evidence of your acceptance at an accredited institution of higher learning, and 5) a recent “headshot” photo, are to arrive no later than April 23, 2026. Early submission is encouraged.
